What is Balanced Nutrition about?

At Balanced Nutrition, you will find advice and counselling from registered dietitians who are experts in the science and art of food and nutrition as a component of overall healthy living.

Why should I choose a dietitian at over other professionals who give me nutrition advice?

Unlike many others who give advice about nutrition, registered dietitians are trained health care professionals that are reliable and accountable for the recommendations they provide to the public. Dietitians are one of the 26 Regulated Health Care Professionals registered with a regulatory body in Ontario. In fact, the term “dietitian” or "RD" is a protected title and may not be used without meeting appropriate accreditation of the provincial regulatory body.

The term nutritionist on the other hand, is a generic title that could be used by anyone to give you advice about nutrition. Distinguishing the difference between dietitians and others who would provide you nutrition information is an easy way to ensure you are getting quality care and expertise from a very reliable source.

Registered dietitians must complete the academic standards as well as hands-on practicum set by the provincial health regulatory government. They also must complete a national exam on dietetics and be involved in continuing education for as long as they hold their license to practice. Up on graduation, dietitians have a minimum of 1500 hours of nutrition training, that is often completed over five to six years of full time post secondary education. This is highest level of nutrition training requirement and specialization out of all regulated heath care professionals in Canada.

At Balanced Nutrition, you will only receive nutrition counselling from professional, compassionate and experienced registered dietitians.
